Say It With Flowers...

Day One: 19th October

Flowers delivered to the house are an essential part of anyone's recovery from an operation. I was so pleased that my mum hadn't heeded my "No, it's fine, I can't expect you to send flowers a second time". Ands thanks too to Christopher, my brother-in-law, for choosing the blooms and organising delivery.

Also received a red begonia plant from our neighbours, who'd returned from holiday to find they'd had a water leak and now need to replace their parquet floor!

Hi Geraldine. I got quite involved in your experience at the hospital. I take it you're home post op and all went well? The main character in my new book is called Geraldine which is why I visited your blog (not a logical reason). I'm glad I did. The flower pictures are lovely. I agree, it's always nice to receive flowers. Good for you and your mum.

Hi Leigh, thanks for brightening up my day with your comments. I'm not a natural writer as you will have guessed (I winced when you mentioned you're an English teacher used to correcting grammar mistakes, you'll have a 'field day' here!) and more used to expressing myself in the things I make. I started my blog when I could no longer sit at a desk to create things. I needed the reassurance that my life had not stopped just because my hernia was preventing from doing so many things (It took four years for anyone to diagnose it) I worked out that the only things I could do was work at the computer (in a state of recline) and take photos and this seemed the best way of making the most of what I could still do.
Congratulations on the imminent publishing of your book. I know what a thrill it is to see your name in print. I used to write craft projects for all the main craft magazines, but gave that up to take over the running of www.ukhandknitting.com and a more predictable income. I still miss that... Its been good this year to have some of my photos published in the local paper, although since my first operation failed in July, I've not really been able to get out and about.
Best of luck with the book and come back soon...
