Mother's Day Walk

14.03.10. Robert and I had a long walk around Little Eaton. The chimney of Peckwash Mill dominates the skyline for miles around and is just as impressive close up. We used to be able to see it from our 'old' house, but it's only in the last few years that I've learned its history. Originally it served as a corn mill way back in the 13th Century and ended it's days as a paper mill of international importance. A complaint from a neighbour about the amount of smoke it emitted in 1906 ultimately led to its demise - a very early case of NIMBY...
