Holiday In America
16.08.09: Flight out long and uneventful. So much better now you can spend the time watching films. Had taxi from the airport to our hotel. Not as scary as last year. Walked to Central Park taking in a craft fair on the way. Was so hot had to keep out of the sun! Pleasant walk around the park and back to the hotel. Ate at hotel and went for another walk before turning in for the night.
17.08.09
Had a tour around NBC studios. Not a lot going on, but interesting all the same. Very cold inside! Had evening meal in Bryant Park whilst watching Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
18.08.09: Lucy and I 'did' the bead shops and got as far as the Flat Iron Building (where it rained for a while.) Graham and Robert visited a museum. Met up in Bryant Park where we saw them filming an episode of 'The Goodbye Girl' (?) Went back to the hotel. Came out later and visited Times Square in the dark. Robert and Lucy elsewhere.
19.08.09: Robert and Lucy got up early and took the train to Washington for the day. (Graham accompanied them to Penn Station. We caught a train and spent a leisurely and very pleasant day the the Botanical Gardens - very hot. Met Robert and Lucy from the train at 10.30pm
20.08.09: Graham went to the airport and picked up a hire car and drove to Stamford. We three took the train and met him there. Spent the morning with Don, we went for a walk around Greenwich Point while Robert and Lucy swam in the sea. Had lunch and spent the afternoon driving round until we all met up for dinner with Don, Pat, David, Marie and Samantha.
