June 2009

.06.09: Jewellery Class at Allen PArk, cross over technique.
.06.09: Took Lucy with me to Denby Pottery to take some photos. They are holding a competition to celebrate their 200 years of manufacture and I wanted to enter. Was most pleased with the images taken in the restaurant with the bright light streaming in. There were two middle aged ladies there having a coffee - suggested I'd be much better off taking photos of people making the crockery...
.06.09: Jewellery Class at Chaddesden (6), made rings using cross over technique
.06.09: Jewellery Class at Village, made earrings
.06.09: Britain's first Ravelry Day held in Coventry. Went down on the train and met up with Chris. Met some interesting people if you like knitting...It rained solidly all day!
.06.09: Would have been Belper Steam Festival, held near Denby Pottery, but took wet to go.
.06.09: Jewellery Class at Allen PArk, cross over technique made dragonflies
.06.09: Made earrings with visitors at Ilkeston Library, 6.30pm-8.30pm. Billed as a 'Girly Night Out' making jewellery went down really well. Pat who I used to sing with came and we had a good chat.
.06.09: Met up with John Tunley (photography lecturer Derby University) and he showed me round their Degree Show. Some really good work notably images in the style of Joseph Wright. She has since been asked to produce some photos for the museum (paid!). Less notable, the student from Corsica whose father is a photographer and whose images were of decaying vehicles on a Corsican seashore...
.06.09: Jewellery Class at Village, made cross over bracelets.
.06.09: Collected Calligraphy pens from Johnny Wrights in Derby. What would we/they do without Rachel!
.06.09: Took a Calligraphy workshop at Hanbury WI. Very warm evening, lovely new hall with all mod cons. Pitched it at the person who requested it and wanted to learn how to do it. Didn't appeal to some of the others. Another time would make it much simpler, perhaps just working on a single letter - to go on the front of a book or similar. Or group activity...If anyone visits look out for the paintings of the village painted by one of the WI members -fab!
.06.09: RARPA training at Alfreton. Didn't learn anything new except Photobox image display - but is only available on Windows! Came home with a Busby video camera (still in wrapper 05.01.10)
.06.09: Jewellery Class at Village
.06.09: Graham won tickets to O2 Food Fair at Regents Park in London. As he is away, met up with Robert and had a fun time there. Highlight, seeing Gary Rhodes and taking lots of photos of him, also Robert's face as he tried oysters for the first time!
.06.09: Back to London for a UKHKA meeting at St James' Square. Met up with Chris at Costa Coffee off Regent's Street (in the church). Offices at St James' Square very plush - but couldn't open doors to loos!
.06.09: Denby Open Day, went and collected prize for coming second for my photo of their salt and pepper pots. Was given a £50 commemorative tea pot. All the other entrants worked at Denby and were given cash prizes...
.06.09: Went down to Wynyards for the day. Took some photos of Pryce's workshop.
.06.09: Went to see Gail and borrowed a selection of videos to take on holiday with us.
