Flew to Venice late on Wednesday 1st July. Stayed two nights in Hotel next to the station at Quattro D'Altino. Amazingly you couldn't hear any trains as they are electric and very quiet.

Went to Venice on the train and spent the day walking round drinking in the beauty of the place. Frighteningly hot mid afternoon. Visited the Betty Guggenheim Museum, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, for some respite from the heat.
